Abstract (EN)

Having been exposed to a constant compulsory migration throughout their histories, starting from the end of the 18th Century, the Crimean Tatars have settled in countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Germany and USA, in addition to resettling themselves in Turkey. Crimean Tatars who see themselves as Turks as well as embracing a Muslim identity exhibit a lifestyle, compatible with the socio-cultural structure in Turkey. However, this does not cause an alienation of Crimean Tatar identities. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the multiple relationships between nationalism, homeland (memleket) and home-country (vatan) by employing gender as analytic category, by working with the Crimean Tatar women both within and outside of the Crimean Tatar Homeland associations. Maintaining their historical perspectives and attachment to their national identities, the Crimean Tatars have also been well integrated to the cultural traits of Anatolian Turks. Crimean Tatars have been considered on the basis of their migration and exile process, and their current cultural structure has been examined along with an evaluation of their dates of migration into Anatolia and their countries of origin. Therefore, this study focuses on the individual backgrounds and the narratives of women and presents new cultural processes in this new changing of inhabitance of the Crimean Tatar people
