Representation of reality in social thought

Based on the assumption that the representation of society and social as a reality in social theory is constructed by metaphor and that metaphorical representation provides central control of social theory in ideational and discursive context, the main problem of the research is that the relation between "social reality" and the "about reality" (social theory) is investigated by subjecting to a multi-level reading on the basis of metaphoric representation. The graphical process of metaphors as a theoretical set-up of reality in the sociological canon contains important clues to illustrate the representation regime of the theoretical language about social and inclusion and exclusion of theory. In this context, the forms of representation of society and social as a reality are followed in the course of the metaphor as classical, modern and contemporary theorists, Comte, Spencer, Durkheim, Marx, Weber, Foucault, Bauman and Baudrillard. The metaphor preferences of the thinkers in the representation of reality, the way the preferred metaphor establishes reality, the metaphors' "internal relationship with the discourse of theory" and "external relationship with the discourse of social thought" and as a part of the strategy of constructing the theoretical language related to society have been read. By considering the differences in their approach to society and social and historical periods, the study is structured with a complementary metaphoric classification in order to show the continuity and rupture of the social thinkers' approaches to society and social. The study presents expansions on the basis of the metaphor axis related to social reality, social theory and the connection that this theory establishes with reality, and shows the dimensions of the relationship between metaphor and discursive regime of social theory. It is concluded that the conceptual languages of the thinkers who construct social reality in different periods of history, different geographies and theories with different approaches and the discourse and representation strategies are combined in the use of metaphors.
