Comparison of incontinence, quality of life and sexual function scores of patients underwent tot and mini-sling surgery

It's aimed to compare the effects of TOT and Mini-sling surgery on incontinence, quality of life and sexual function of patients with stress urinary incontinence. In this prospective, consecutive study within 40 patients with stress urinary incontinence; TOT was performed to the first twenty of patients and Mini-sling was performed to the second twenty of patients. Age, incontinence period, the number of parity and body mass index (BMI) of the patients were recorded. Preoperative physical examination and pelvic examination, urinalysis, urine culture, Q-type test and urodynamic evaluation were performed to all patients. "International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire " scoring forms ( ICIQ -SF ) for evaluating urinary incontinence, " Quality of Life of Persons with Urinary Incontinence " scoring forms ( I- QOL ) for evaluating the difference between the quality of lifes , and " Female Sexual Function Index " scoring form ( IFSF ) for assesing sexual functions were filled by all patients preoperatively and postoperative 6. months. Age of patients, incontinence duration, parity, body mass index and Q-type test results were observed no significant differences statistically in both groups. Pre- operative and post- operative 6. month results of ICIQ –SF and I- QOL scores in patients with TOT group compared to those Mini- sling group, statistically significant improvement were observed at a higher rate ( 76.20 % vs. 64.10% , p=0.001 and 81.31 % vs. 69.28 % , p = 0.001). IFSF scoring were no significant differences between the two groups (19.93% vs 18.60%, p=0.820). According to our results; higher success rates were observed in patients who underwent TOT compared to the Mini- sling. Increased quality of life and reduced incontinence symptoms were determined in these patients. However, this results needs to be confirmed in prospective, randomized , larger patient series.
