Özet (EN)
RESULTS OF TOTAL HIP ARTHROPLASTYAny conditions that affect the structure and functions of musculoskeletal system affect the movement function negatively. One of the conditions which significantly affect the movement of the individual is structural and functional disorders that occur in hip joint. The structural and functional disorders may be caused by some reasons such as osteoarthritis, romatoid arthritis, femoral neck and acetabular fracture and congenital hip dislocation.During the study, clinical and radiological evaluations were performed for 75 hips of 72 patients in Fırat University Medical Faculty Hospital Orthopedics and Traumatology service between the years of 2002 and 2008. The 52% of the patients were women (38); while 48% of them were men (34) and 55.5% was the left side (40), whereas 40.2% was the right side (29) and 5.5% was bilateral (4). The age distribution was in the range of 26-88 (average 64.3). A total of 75 femoral components were placed in the patients. 10 (13.3%) of these components were cemented; whereas 65 (86.7%) of them were cementless. A total of 75 acetabular components were placed in the patients. 66 (88%) of these components were screw acetabular components; whereas 9 (12%) of them were acetabular components without screws (porous coated). For the clinical evaluation of the patients, Harris Hip Evaluation Form and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were used. The average Harris Hip Evaluation Form score was 36.7 before the operation, while it was 70.3 in the recent control; and the preoperational average VAS was 81.6 whereas the average VAS observed to be 35.7 in the last control. The complications were as follows; hip luxation in 8 of the patients (11%), femoral fissure in 2 patients (2.7%), femoral fracture in 1 patient (1.7%), DTV (deep vein thrombosis) in 1 patient (1.3%), loosening of femoral stem in 2 of the patients (2.7%), heterotopic ossification in 9 patients (12%) and prosthesis infection in 2 of the patients (2.7%). 12 of the patients (16%) were applied revision surgery. As a consequence, the results of TKP are observed to be excellent due to accurate indication, suitable implant selection, proper surgical technique proper postoperative maintenance and rehabilitation. In particular, TKP takes a significant place for the relief of the pain that limits the life and can not be reduced, generally observed in patients who are 65 years old and above; and which can not be relieved by conservative methods for which the only alternative is hip joint resection.Key Words: Total hip prosthesis, arthroplasty
