Özet (EN)

In this study, the effectiveness of Trachystemon orientalis (L.) G. Don plant grown in Düzce on gastrointestinal system cancer cells was investigated. In this context, anticancer activity was studied in HCT-116 colon cancer, HepG2 hepatocellular carcinoma cells and AGS gastric cancer cell lines. The antiproliferation level of cancer cells was examined with the WST-1 kit and significant results were obtained. Caspase activation, which is an important criterion of apoptosis, was determined with Caspase 3, Caspase 8, and Caspase 9 Elisa kits. Considering the changes in antiproliferation levels and increases in Caspase activities, it has been observed that Trachystemon orientalis is a plant that can potentially be used in cancer research. Differences were observed between antiproliferation levels and especially caspase 8 activation levels in AGS gastric cancer cells compared to hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal cancer cells. The effects of Trachystemon orientalis on gastric cancer should be investigated in detail. The results found need to be supported by more observations and experiments.
