Abstract (EN)

Traffic accidents are global phenomenans and of cardinal proportions directly affecting humanity and its health and needs to be dealt with. Carrying out scientific and systematic research work in order to solve the problem is unavoidable. Solution strategies, techniques as well as models for the traffic hazard are available. However, solution generating by means of conventional approaches is past its prime. The problems needs to be solved within the scope of a systems approach interpreting the problem into ?Is it possible to predict traffic accidents beforehand and can they be avoided with preventive action??. This study launches ?Traffic Accident Analysis Program? (TAAP) in order to prevent prospective traffic accidents and in consequence alleviate injuries as well as disabilities through ?PROGNOSTICS MODEL FOR POSSIBLE HAZARD? (PMPH). Accidents of year 2005 have been predicted through analysis of 15689 traffic accidents cases which took place out of the municipality border of Ankara between year 2000-2004 in the TAAP application. Through an application of TAAP it has been detected that PMPH possesses high degree of prediction accuracy. Keywords : Traffic accidents, prognostic model, hazard analysis
