Abstract (EN)
The study is a micropaleontological research based mainly on the ostracod fauna in the clastic sediments of Southwest and Southeast of the Thrace basin. The lithological units transgressively exposed on the Paleozoic old basement in the Thrace Basin, which is the area of study, are as follows: Koyunbaba Formation in Eocene (Lutetian), Soğucak Formation (Priabonian), Ceylan Formation (Late Priabonian), Mezardere and its Teslimköy Members, Osmancık and Danişmen Formation and its Taslisekban, Pınarhisar members of the Yenimuhacir Group of Oligocene (Rupelian-Chattian), inadaptable Ergene Formation of Çanakkale Group and Çelebi and Sinanköy Formation in late Miocene (Tortonian/Pannonian-Messinian/Pontian)-early Pliocene, inadaptable Kırcasalih Formation in Pleistocene and overlying current alluvium are observed. In the study area, 11 measured stratigraphic sections and 10 sounding logs were examined and evaluated as lithologically, micropaleontologically and paleoecologically. In the study, Vize distriscts and Poyralı village of Kırklareli Province, Kaynarca Town of Pınarhisar District, the stack of limestone operated by Hisartaş Mining in Pınarhisar District, vicinity of Süloğlu and Lalapaşa districts of Edirne Province and the Eocene-Oligocene aged strata on the Lalapaşa -Edirne road are studied and examined. During the ongoing research, with the expectation of its contribution to the surface geology, micropaleontological (ostracod and micromollusc) evaluation of 6 samples were drilled by the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration, in the vicinity of Meriç district and Küçükdoğanca, Kırkoy and Süleymaniye villages of Uzunköprü, Keşan, Süloğlu, Geçkinli districts of Edirne Province. During the purchases on sounding works, micropaleontological (ostracod and micromollusc) evaluation of 4 samples were drilled by the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration in the vicinity of Çavuşlu, Küçükdoğanca, Yağcılar and Hasbağköy villages of Uzunkoprü, Keşan, Süloğlu, Vize districts of Edirne and Kırklareli Provinces. During the revision of the field studies of the thesis, samples of Ergene Formation were taken from the crevasse and road splits in Sinanköy, a village of Lalapaşa district, which is between Havsa- Uzunkoprü districts of Edirne Province. The petrographical-mineralogical relations of Çelebi and Sinanlı members and particularly the stratigraphical (chronostratigraphic-lithostratigraphic and paleobiogeographic) similarities and differences of the ostracod fauna they contain, have been discussed for the first time, and especially it has been observed that the ostracod genera and species defined in the Sinanlı Member present Paratetis characteristics. In addition, it was determined that, high kaolinite and smectite ratios in the X-ray diffractograms applied to the clay and clayey limestone samples in the Ergene Formation, are supportive for the fresh water and brahic conditions of the late Miocene-Pliocene sediments in the region.
