Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to adapt the Turkish version of the Trauma and Life Events Checklist (TALE) into Turkish. TALE was developed to briefly and systematically assess traumatic life events experienced during childhood and adulthood in individuals diagnosed with psychosis. In this context, the translation process of TALE into Turkish was conducted, and its content validity was evaluated through expert opinions. Cohen's Kappa analyses were performed with comparative scales to assess item-level agreement. Correlation analyses were conducted to examine convergent and construct validity. The study was carried out with 50 participants diagnosed with psychotic disorders, receiving outpatient treatment, and using medication regularly. Data were collected using a survey form that included TALE along with the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-33), the Cumulative Trauma Scale – Short Form (CTS-SF), the PTSD Symptom Scale – Self-Report (PSS-SR), and the Community Assessment of Psychic Experiences (CAPE). The findings indicated that the Turkish version of TALE demonstrated moderate agreement at the item level, significant associations with posttraumatic stress and psychotic symptoms, and adequate internal consistency. Accordingly, this study shows that the Turkish version of TALE can be used as a functional tool in assessing traumatic experiences in individuals with psychosis.
