Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was conducted to compare the effects of platelet-rich fibrin and cyanoacrylate applied to the palatal wound area after free gingival graft surgery on post-operative pain and clinical wound healing. Materials and Methods: This was a randomized clinical trial, in which 60 patients with free gingival graft indications were selected. 6 patients were excluded from the study and our study was completed with 54 patients. The patients were assigned to three groups (n=18); Group 1: Control group, Group 2: Cyanoacrylate group 3: Platelet-rich fibrin group. The patients were evaluated using the Landry wound healing index (LTH) and H2O2 foaming test on the 3rd, 7th, 14th and 21st days. Pain levels of the patients were recorded with visual pain scoring (VAS) for 21 days.ng test. The patients pain levels and postoperative clinical conditions were recorded for 21 days. Results: In our study, postoperative pain was found to be less in the cyanoacrylate and PRF group than the control group, but the difference between the groups was not statistically significant. No correlation was detected between anxiety test results taken before the operation and VAS. There is no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of LTH scores on the 3rd day. Between the groups, the LTH scores of the PRF group increased more than the control group on the 7th and 14th days, and this difference was found to be statistically significant. Although the increase of LTH scores in the cyanoacrylate group on the 7th and 14th days compared to the 3rd day was higher than the control group, it was not statistically significant. H2O2 foaming test was performed between the groups and no statistically significant difference was observed on the 7th, 14th and 21st days. Conclusion: Within the limits of the present study, it can be concluded that although the both test groups gave better results than the control group in terms of H2O2 foaming test and VAS pain scoring, this difference was not statistically significant. According to LTH scores, PRF was found to provide clinical healing benefits than the control group on the 7th and 14th days this difference was statistically significant. Cyanoacrylate group LTH scores was found higher than the control group but this difference was not statistically significant.
