Music and literary analysis of women's dialect folk songs in Kütahya region in TRT repertoire

Abstract (EN)
In this study, 23 women's dialect folk songs belonging to the Kütahya region in the TRT Turkish Folk Music repertory archive were identified and examined from a musical and literary point of view. The aim of the study is to examine in terms of musical (modal scale, sound intervals, melodic course, rhythmic structure (measure, pronoun), form) and literary (theme, subject, poetic structure, local language features), the places where the folk songs are performed, the folk songs with a story, if any. to reveal the stories of the local repertoire, to reflect the characteristics of the dance folk songs played by women, to contribute to the local music culture, to provide a stepping stone for the continuity of the tradition, its transfer and different studies on the field, taking into account the demographic structure of the interviewed participants. In this descriptive study, one of the qualitative research methods, "Case study" design was used. Data were collected through document analysis and semi-structured interview. Semi-structured interview questions were created in line with the opinions of people who knew the region and were asked to 10 people. It has been observed that all of the form structures of the local folk songs are verbal "kırık hava", five different meter structures are used and nine-time measures are intense. Seven different maqam scales were determined in the twenty-three women's dialect folk songs of Kütahya region, which were determined in the TRT repertory archive, and it was determined that the most common Hicaz scale. It has been observed that folk songs generally have at least five and maximum nine voice width. In Kütahya region, women used def, deblek and darbuka while performing folk songs. If these instruments do not exist, trays, cubes, etc. accompanied the songs with instruments. The dances performed by the women in the region are slow and straight folk dances. Three of the determined five folk songs with danceare registered in the TRT repertoire archive. As a result of the interviews, the stories of the three songs examined were reached. The determinations and analysis results obtained from 23 folk songs belonging to Kütahya province and its districts are presented in tables and lists.
