Abstract (EN)

Ottoman State had reigned a long time because of its military hardware and power, like all other strong states. The first innovations were carried out in the military force in the late ottoman period when began the loosing of power. The Redif Military Organization was a significant renovation movement of military organization in the XIX century in which the Ottoman State was in a great crisis. By the constitution of Redif Military Organization, after the abolishment of Guild of Janissaries, Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammadiye was established to support the new army, and it was purposed to provide national security by eliminating compulsory service. The military organization, which established in 1834 and had been modified while in time, was the important part of the Ottoman military power from its establishment to the last period of Ottoman State. In the study entitled "Tuht District Redif Registers Transcription and Evaluation (1906-1912)" eight redif registers belonging to Tuht (Yapraklı) District of Çankırı Province between 1906-1912 were analysed and data was revealed by doing the necessary transcripts in terms of both social and military. According to the current data, the information was given about the military status of the soldiers and their villages, neighbourhoods, nicknames, marital statuses, professions and families.
