Burnout syndrome, an application on front office employees in hotels

THE BURNOUT SYNDROME, AN APPLICATION ONFRONT OFFICE EMPLOYEES IN HOTELSEmre BAHARSUMMARYBurnout is a syndrome that observed in workers who works for service relatedjobs and symptoms are shown as sentimental burnout, insensitivity to people who theservice is being served and decrease of sensation the personel success. Burnout isrelated between bussinesses in service industry that needs helping and intensiverelation with people. Front desk employees in hotel management usually contacts withcustomers, helps them and solves their problems and works face to face with customers.It can be easily understanding that burnout is a fact which is shown in face to facerelation needed jobs with people. That?s the reason front desk employees beingsurveyed by questionaire in Maslach Burnout Inventory in this research.This reserach is costructed as three main part. In first part, it is defined conceptof burnout and specialities, in second part is determined burnout specialities by fact ofburnout in hotel management and analyses of organizational and individual specialities.In third part of thesis is measured burnout level of front desk employees of four and fivestar hotels in Antalya -Side and Kumköy. It is determined if there is a differencesbetween demografical data and burnout level. Precautions for decreasing the fact ofburnout in front desk of hotel management is defined.As a result of this research, burnout level of front desk employees is determinedas fact by becoming different for age , education, education for tourism, type of work,position of work, working time, want to change the job or not, have a son or daughter ornot and have a subrevanue or not.
