Abstract (EN)
Burnout syndrome, which is one of the factors that negatively affects working life today, is a phenomenon that has negative effects both individually and in organizational terms. Burnout is a problem that presents itself, especially in service sectors that require one-to-one communication with people. This syndrome causes the individual to leave his / her working life, his / her contribution to the economy to decrease, and in some cases psychological problems that cannot be solved without expert support. Organizational citizenship behavior is the behavior of the employee, the standard job description or role requirements outside of their own personal choice to increase organizational effectiveness with some attitudes and behaviors. Today, organizations need more employees who voluntarily make significant contributions to their organizations in order to maintain their presence and improve organizational effectiveness and performance. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of occupational burnout on organizational citizenship behavior of employees working in bank enterprises, one of the most important branches of the service sector. The Maslach and Jackson (1981) model (emotional exhaustion, desensitization and reduction in the sense of personal achievement) was used as a burnout model in the study; and the Organ (1988) model (otherness, conscientiousness, kindness, gentleman and civic virtue) was used as a model of organizational citizenship. The data were collected from employees working in public and private sector banks operating within the borders of Kütahya province. The results of the analysis showed that occupational burnout in general had a negative and meaningful effect on organizational citizenship behavior. However, it has been observed that the burnout sub dimension that negatively affects organizational citizenship behavior is the decrease in the sense of personal achievement. In addition, negative and meaningful relationships were found between the lower dimensions of occupational burnout and the lower dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior. Key Words: Burnout, Organizational Citizenship, Banking Sector.
