Abstract (EN)

Tulum is a traditional instrument that mostly played in two traditional musical genres named as "Yol Havası", "Horon", "Atma Türkü" and "Destan" in the Eastern Blacksea region. Tulum was playing only at weddings, highland migrations, send-offs, welcomes, feasts and various entertainments traditionally. It was played in squares, coffeehouses, mansions and highland squares in villages traditionally. Until today, lots of technical developments have been continued on Tulum instrument about performing in different scales and sound range. These developments mostly related to be able to play in modern environments and different music genres. So, Tulum can be played in different musical genres like as pop, rock, reggae and also classical music in Turkey now. Lots of album projects were recorded with Tulum in last 30 years especially Anatolian Rock Music style and currently still continuing. On the other hand, Tulum is also played on soundtracks in documentaries, series and movies. This position caused to changes on the performance environments of Tulum instrument. It is turned into a professional musical instrument that is played in albums and concerts now. In the first part; aim, scope, methodology and theoretical framework of the study were tried to put forward. In the second part; under the title of Tulum instrument in the Eastern Black Sea musical structure, traditional musical instruments of the Eastern Black Sea Region are mentioned and traditional musical genres in the region are discussed. In the third section; The important historical stages of Tulum instrument, the status of the Tulum instrument in the music industry, the traditional environments in which it is performed and the new environments in which it is performed today are mentioned. In the fourth section; By considering the differences in performance and environment during the popularization process of Tulum, the development studies made for adaptation to today's performance environments in Tulum instrument with the analysis of the environments that are performed today and the change processes created by this popularization Tulum instrument, it have been reached to the conclusion part.
