Safety risk analysis at cruise ports.an example of port of eagean

This study aims to examine the safety risk analysis for passenger ports andtakes as an example of Port of Kusadası. It also aims at minimizing loss of life andproperty and well as damage to the environmental by providing safety management system.It is very important to make risk analysis for cruise ports providing services toboth tourism and shipping.Cruise operators are very sensitive for choosing port of call where their cruiseships visit. The most important points for the choice of the cruise port are infra andsuperstructure of the ports , geographical conditions, passengers services and otherservices for the port users and particularly ?safety and security?.Port of Kusadası was chosen as the field of this study. The contents of thestudy include establishing ; defining and controlling precautions for safety risks andcreating safety strategies within safety management system at the Port of Kuşadası.The method used in this study comprises ?method of qualitative risk analysis?by implementing ? brainstorming? for defining ; analysing and forming the riskscontrol lists. Four steps of risk evaluation are defined as follows :- data gathering,- hazard identification (HAZID),- risk analysis- assesment of existing risk management strategies .The hazards of the Port of Kusadası are identifed as;- death ; injury- property loss- environmental effects- loss of labor and hence profits at the harbourRisk analysis and risk control list are prepared according to the above mentioned frame.Key Words : 1) Safety, 2) Risk, 3) Port, 4) Cruise, 5) Tourism
