Abstract (EN)

Halal tourism is a trending topic in the tourism industry. Many countries are competing to develop halal tourist destinations. In Indonesia too, Aceh is one of the priority areas for organizing halal tourism. This thesis aims to determine perceptions and preferences of tourists toward halal tourism in Aceh. This thesis adopted a quantitative method using a Likert scale questionnaire as a data collection tool and was distributed to 283 domestic tourists who had visited Aceh. This study is limited to three districts in Aceh Province, namely Banda Aceh City, Aceh Besar District, and Sabang City, considering that these areas have the highest number of tourist visits. The sample in this research was determined using the purposive sampling method. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) is used to test the suitability of structures with the data. Data analysis was performed using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) or also known as quadrant analysis which displays the results in the form of a Cartesian diagram. The results of this study found that tourists have a positive perception of halal tourism in Aceh. Even so, some facilities that are considered less important by tourists are still lacking in performance. Keywords: Halal tourism, Aceh, perception, preference, tourist
