Abstract (EN)

While regulations in regard with protection of refugee rights date back to World War One, developments about refugee rights still continue. International and regional organizations aim to protect refugee rights effectively through obligatory agreements. The most material agreement on this subject is 1951 Geneva Convention which was prepared by United Nations. United Nations High Commission for Refugees gives refugee status to people who seek asylum and provide protection. In addition to international protection by 1951 Geneva Convention, there are also regulations that guarantee protection on regional level and in municipal law of states. European Union also has several regulations regarding refugees and asylum-seekers. In this thesis, after explaining the protection of refugees and asylum-seekers in international law, right of asylum in European Union and Turkish Law will be examined. Key Words: Asylum Right, Refugee, Asylum Seeker, European Union and Turkey
