Abstract (EN)
Looking at the Turkish-English relations in the historical process, it is seen that the relations do not continue on a linear line but on a line that draws ups and downs. Our relations with other European states in contrast to this fluctuating relationship with England has been the opposite. The best example of this upsurge relationship between England and us during the Ottoman Empire in 1801 during the war between France and the British Navy through the Dardanelles Strait through the Ottoman Empire against Russia can be cited as an example. When the external relations of the Ottoman Empire in the historical process are examined, it is seen that the most influential state is Britain after Russia. In the 19th century, during the race of Russia and Britain to become an effective power in Asia, the Ottoman Empire tried to form its foreign policy by applying a balance policy between the two countries. In this way, the Ottoman Empire aimed to protect the territorial integrity and to prevent Russian progression through the Straits. II. During the reign of Abdulhamid, Britain abandoned the policy of Russia against Russia to protect the territorial integrity of the Ottoman Empire and instead of England, the Ottoman state tried to maintain its balance policy by making alliances with Germany in this field. In this context, our foreign policy in this period was directed in a way that tight relations with Germany were conducted when faced with England. When we look at the Turkish-British relations during World War I, it is seen that the two countries are located on two opposite poles and they are the parties that struggle with each other. Even during this period, it was seen that England advocated the establishment of their own administrations by the minorities under Ottoman rule and argued that the sovereignty of the Ottomans in the Middle East should be ended by seizing the Ottoman Empire. Atatürk era in our relationship with Britain is seen as a general framework of issues remaining from the War of Independence in a friendly a Turkey tried to be solved to the benefit of policy was followed. II. World War II era solve the problems left over from Lausanne, the overall foreign policy and Turkey against any military action that threatens the security of their borders itself has implemented a policy based on both political and military aspects of defense. Turkey during this period were to see both himself and the purpose of protecting the security of the borders of neighboring Turkey as Britain and France acquiring a military resources to be used against Germany and Italy.
