Intercession in Turkish Islamic literature

Intercession for the forgiveness of a person's crime or the fulfillment of his wish is referred to as intercession. Intercession, which will take place in the hereafter by those permitted by almighty Allah, especially for the forgiveness of sinful believers or for raising their rank, has an important place in the religion of Islam and in our literature. After the Turks accepted Islam, radical social and cultural changes were experienced under the influence of this religion, and our literature also got its share from this change. As a matter of fact, a Turkish literature developed under the influence of Islam. Moreover, in addition to the prominent religious subjects such as tawhîd, munacat, and na't, many other genres emerged in this literature, and works called "intercession-name", dealing with the subject of intercession, were also written. In this study on "Intercession in Turkish-Islamic Literature", first of all, the definition of intercession was made, and the verses of intercession in the Qur'an were interpreted and the nature of intercession and how it would be realized according to these verses were discussed. Then, by giving place to the hadiths about intercession, it was mentioned who will be authorized to intercede and to whom they will intercede. The verses and hadiths about intercession were interpreted and evaluated with a holistic perspective. In the main divans written in the field of Turkish-Islamic literature, couplets in which intercession and concepts related to the subject are mentioned are included. The couplets were grouped according to their subjects and titles were formed. These selected poem samples are interpreted under the titles they are related to. In this study, which was carried out in order to reveal the approach to the subject of intercession in the religion of Islam and in our literature, to draw attention to the importance of the Prophet in terms of having the greatest intercession authority, and to contribute to the literature on this genre, more meaning-based commentary method was used. With this study, it has been concluded that the subject of intercession in our literature is shaped in the context of verses and hadiths, especially in the poems that praise the Prophet, this issue is also mentioned and a limited number of independent works dealing with the subject have been written.
