The problems of Turkish women travellers

Although the concept of gender is a subject that has been discussed throughout history, both genders have been given some social roles. These roles are based on biological differences between the genders. While the role of women in society is to reproduce and take care of housework, it is considered appropriate for men to be individuals who make money outside. It took time for the woman to enter the social life and prove herself by staying one step behind the man in the society.With the developing society, women started to enter social life and learned to stand on their feet. In this way, women wanted to develop themselves and to get to know different cultures and experience by leaving the environment. But no matter how much women want to improve themselves, they have faced some restrictors by society. In this direction, the main purpose of the research is to determine what problems Turkish traveler women face in their travels. In addition, determining the restrictors faced by traveler women before and during their travels and measuring how effective the characteristics are in solving the problems they encounter with their travels are the sub-objectives of the research. Simultaneous mixed method was preferred in the study. The questionnaire technique, which is one of the qualitative research method, and the quantitative research methods, were used. In this study, the number of samples was 69 for interview technique and 304 for survey technique. Considering the results obtained from the interview technique for women participating in the research, it was concluded that they were exposed to fear-doubt, verbal abuse and loneliness restrictiones from personal restraints, but they completed their travels by thinking that they add proof and self-confidence despite these restrictors. The results obtained from the survey technique revealed that the level of education and the financial situation are directly proportional to their travels, the region where they will travel should be safe, and in terms of personality characteristics, they are people with wide imagination, open to learning, and love to travel.
