Evaluation of the difficulties encountered between theory and practice in Turkish music Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek theory in terms of student opinions

Turkish music sound system is based on a history of thousands of years. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the system, which contains 24 spacing 25 voices, has been used under the name of Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek sound theory. Turkish music sound system consists of unequal intervals. On the other hand, equal intervals of Western music are based on the the tone system framework relation. This causes differences in the writing system of the note as well as in the works. The Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek Nazari system was introduced in Turkish music in the period when the Western note writing began to be used in our country. This system is still being employed today. Due to the differences in sound system of Western and Turkish music Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek, it is thought that this problem causes especially beginners of Turkish music to struggle in the execution Turkish music. This research aims to investigate the performance difficulties that are thought to stem from the Western note writing used in the Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek Nazari system. The research is deemed important in terms of execution of the writing system, determining the problems arising from the system and enabling students to put forward their opinions. Research is a descriptive research and a screening model has been employed. The universe of the study enlarges students in Turkish professional conservatory music education in Turkey. The sample consists of students in conservatories determined by the researcher. Survey questions that are prepared by the researcher is applied to the students who make up the sample of the study. The data after all has been categorized as frequency and percentage values.
