Abstract (EN)
Language education, which starts during family life, continues throughout life. This education is conducted during Turkish language courses in primary schools. Thus, students learn their native language from Turkish texts taught in the classroom. The objective of this study is to examine the texts found in the 5th Grade Turkish workbook within the context of reading theories (text centered, author centered, reader centered approach). In this study, the status of text processing models in the textbooks within the context of the theories of criticism, as well as the role of the activities in creating the meaning of the stories in the textbooks, and the singular meaning of the stories in the textbooks were examined. 15 teachers who participated in the study examined 39 activities from 8 stories, which were chosen randomly from 17 story activities from each theme found in a Turkish workbook, designed to be used in the 5th grade of secondary schools, and accepted by the Ministry of National Education. A questionnaire was utilized, which was prepared by the researcher with assistance from an expert, and it was used to reveal the opinions of the teachers who participated in the study. As a preparation for the study, initially a literature survey was conducted, and the main sources related to the topic were reviewed. Based on the result obtained, an application that may become an example was included at the end of the thesis. Keywords: Reading theories, textbooks, text selection.
