An analysis of the dysfluencies of Turkish speaking 2.5-9 year-old stuttering children on nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions in terms of word morphology and position in the sentence

This study examines the dysfluencies of 2.5-9 year- old Turkish stutteres on nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions and pronouns. Audio and video recordings of naturalistic speech samples were obtained from 15 children and disfluencies on nouns, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions and pronouns were examined according to whether they were in the main or subordinate clause, and also whether they were on the root or suffix. Children were randomly chosen from among the applicants to the Anadolu University Language and Speech Disorders Education and Research Center and Ankara University Special Education, Research Center.The results indicated that among the word types studied, stuttering occured mostly on nouns. Children also stuttered more in main clauses as opposed to the subordinate clauses, and more on roots than suffixes.Key words: Stuttering, word types, sentence type, the morphological structure
