Archaeological artifact collection in Turkey

People have collected various objects for different purposes, from religious feelings to personal desires for accumulation. Cultural assets from movable objects have gained a legal framework within a new branch of law with the increase of conditions and reasons that require their protection towards modern times. preservation of cultural assets with a long history of Turkey, is making a collection of cultural assets has been recently sat on a legal ground. In the study, opinions on archaeological artifact collecting were compiled and analyzed by the parties to the subject. The evaluations focus on the problems arising from the legal basis that constitutes the current collecting system. The collectors' front is uncomfortable with the negative image and the portrayal of problems in protectionism as a result of collecting. Academicians working in the field of archeology; They suggest that in order to eliminate the destruction of cultural assets that are thought to be caused by collecting, the transition to the "certificate of origin" system and that there is an urgent need for a modern legal arrangement. The result obtained from the study is that collecting should be reconsidered within the policies to be developed for cultural assets. "Archaeological artifact collection", which is included in the collection of movable cultural assets, should be evaluated in line with the principles of archeology. Opinions; It is in the direction of supporting and developing collecting, which will not trigger destruction and illegal excavations, which takes into account the ethics of science, does not harm cultural assets, benefits science and society, and is carried out with awareness and interest.
