Comparison of Türkiye and Belgium preschool education

The aim of this research is to compare pre-school education systems and education programs of Turkey and Belgium Flemish region that these countries are implementing in terms of different variables. This research, which aims to reveal the general structure of the Turkish and Belgium Flemish pre-school education systems, the similarities and differences between the applied education programs, is a qualitative research with descriptive expression. In the research, document analysis and observation method were used as data collection tools between the years March of 2021-2023. In the document analysis, primary sourches were tried to be reached. The objective and sub-objective of the research with the resourches reached, the general structure of pre-school education of two countries, the education programs, the registration status of educational institutions, pre-school teacher education and working conditions, health policy issues in educational institutions were compared ,the findings were discussed and some suggestions for the results were listed. According to the results obtained from this discussion, while there is no effect of local goverments on pre-schooleducation due to the social and cultural structure of Turkey, however in Belgium which has three regions that local goverments are effective on pre-school education in organizing, conducting and financing. Also there is a central preschool education program in Türkiye and preschool is not compulsory. However, ın the Flemish Region of Belgium schools are free to follow the educatiion program whichever they choose. Preschool education is compulsory. Preschool rates of enrollment in two countries are similar. In both countries preschool education is free in public schools. In the two countries, the duration of preschool teacher education, the assignment and working conditions, the types of activities implemented and the enrollment of children in the preschool education stage has been found different from each other.
