Child poverty in Turkey: Application of choice models with pooled cross section data

Özet (EN)

Rapid population growth, high and irregular urbanization, urban unemployment and income distribution problems in developing countries brings problems of child poverty. In this environment, the increasing use of child labor causes a temporarily increase in the level of household welfare. Working of all household members, especially children at an early age because of the rapid decreases in household income is inevitable. Also the cheaper child labor causes employers to employ more children and increase in the income of household because of working children, increases the number of working children. The increase in the number of working children is causing decrease the ratio of enrollment of children and the welfare level of children in the future.Although child poverty has important results on child labor and education, a comprehensive study has not been done on this subject in Turkey. The purpose of this study is to analyze with child poverty, child labor and education to contribute to the demonstration of structural change in Turkey.
