Abstract (EN)
The preparation of standard water balance for drinking water networks is a basic process for analyzing and management of water losses. But, field components in the standard water balance chart may not reflect the exact accurate results. For instance flow meters and customer meters which are used for determining the system input volume and authorized consumption components are usually measured with low precision due to factors such as age, type and extent. Some components are not measured but they are evaluated by a range of acceptances and estimation methods. In a similar way, there are uncertanities in the performance indicator (PI) components which are used for evaluating system performance. Within the content of this thesis study, the factors, which create uncertanity in the standard water balance and PI components, are examined and suggestions are offered to reduce these uncertanities. There are several softwares to prepare water balance and calculate PI components in literature. But, it is not possible to make uncertanity analysis by every software. By using AWWA V5 - 2014 software, it is possible to perform water balance and PI calculation that used within the content of the thesis study and evaluate the uncertanity levels of the input data according to their characteristics. Besides, AWWA V5 software offers suggestions to redue the uncertanity according to the identified system input datas and uncertanity leves. Required system data sets for use in the software are acquired from Kaleiçi and Konyaaltı DMA-2, which were previously subjected to detailed studies. According to the results of the thesis study, it was seen that the accuracy of the results of the water balance and PI components depend on many interrelated factors.
