Abstract (EN)

Industrial heritage; it covers the building, area, landscape, ruins and industrial processes that carry the values of the period. While these elements provide data on cultural, economic and social relations, they also form the memory of the city. Tarsus, 19th century. Despite their resources for raw material production, they do not have facilities to process them. 20th century Investors, who realized the potential of Tarsus before entering the company, established cotton gin and yarn factories. In addition, food factories, power plants; textile, canned food and brick-ceramic factories were operating. These factories are being destroyed today by negligence, unconscious repairs and new functions given by decisions. The preservation of the industrial heritage of Tarsus is important for the sustainability of the urban memory, as detailed documentation has not been made of the buildings, some of which continued to function and some of them lost their function after being used until the 1950s. Among these industrial heritages, Tarsus Hydroelectric Power Plant is in danger of extinction, especially due to misuse.
