Abstract (EN)
Occupational health and safety constitute the basis for the culture of human life. It is known that 98% of work accidents can be avoided. Countries establish legislation on occupational health and safety. Especially, the Occupational Health and Safety Act issued in 2012 is the most comprehensive progress recorded in Turkey. Therefore, more consistent records were created. This study compared the work accidents in Turkey in recent years with European countries. The coefficients of change were found and interpreted using fatal work accident numbers. It was determined that the countries studied could be divided into 3 groups by clustering and multidimensional scaling analysis. In addition, fatal accidents at work occurred between 2013-2016 years in Turkey were investigated statistically. The variation of occupational accidents, especially according to sectors and age ranges, was examined. The probabilities of fatal work accidents were modelled by Pareto 2 (Lomax) distribution. It is considered that the results will shed light on the development of occupational health and safety culture in Turkey.
