Abstract (EN)
Starting from the Ottoman period to the proclamation of the Republic, Turkish women had many changes and developments. With the proclamation of the Republic, women became an important part of the modernization process. However, when we look at today from the historical developments and changes, gender roles and stereotypes continue to exist and are reproduced. Mass media is one of the biggest supporters of this situation. One of the most effective means of mass media is television. Television is a very effective tool in the preservation of patriarchal ideology in society and in the reproduction of value judgments. In television programs, serials occupy an important place in the life of people and set record records. What makes the series such success are narrative structures and characters used. Images are created with the roles loaded on the characters in the series and the viewer identifies and integrates them with these images. Even though female characters are formed in Turkish serials that sometimes adapt to the modernization process of the society, their substructure remains dependent on patriarchal family structure and gender judgments. Since the characters of the series are effective images on the audience, certain characters were selected and analyzed by using Lajos Egri's Dialectical Analysis Character Characterizationmethod.
