Youth unemployment in Turkey and a field survey

Abstract (EN)

High youth unemployment today is one of the main economic problems not only for developing countries but also for developed countries. Therefore, the issue of youth unemployment has attracted a lot of attention in recent years and the relevant literature has increased significantly. In this study, first the concept of youth unemployment disclosed as a theoretical, subsequently referred to the youth unemployment problem in Turkey. In order to investigate the reasons of youth unemployment and the effects of unemployment, a questionnaire was conducted for young unemployed people 15-29 age group who in Malatya who are registered to İŞKUR or not registered to İŞKUR. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed with SPSS for Windows package program. According to the results of the research, affected of youth by unemployment do not differ significantly according to gender and marital status. On the other hand, it was concluded that age group and education level had an effect on youth unemployment. According to the results the main reasons of youth unemployment are inadequacies in the education system, lack of experience, high number of university graduates, and absence of open job adequately in the market.
