Özet (EN)
The use of satellite data to estimate solar radiation at ground level has become an aviable alternative way to ground measurements of solar radiation. In this thesis, a statistical model has been developed to determine the hourly global solar radiation on Turkey using NOAA-AVHRR satellite data. In the first stage of the study, the calibration and geographic corrections of the raw satellite data between 2010 and 2016 were made and the cloud cover index of each pixel corresponding to the 22 selected meteorology stations was calculated. Atmospheric transmission factor of each pixel was calculated using hourly global solar radiation data measured at ground stations and coming out of the atmosphere. In the second stage, the regression coefficients a and b were obtained from the monthly graphs between the cloud cover index and atmospheric transmission factor values. In the third stage, atmospheric transition factors of each pixel were calculated by using hourly global solar radiation data measured at the ground station in 2015 and 2016 and coming out of the atmosphere. In the fourth stage, a and b regression coefficients, cloud cover index and atmospheric transmission factor values of 2015 and 2016 satellite data obtained from the data of the first 5 years were applied to the statistical model and the hourly global solar radiation value reaching the ground was calculated experimentally. The solar radiation values of the ground stations and the experimentally obtained solar radiation values were compared and it was determined that the correlation coefficient values of R2, which are the values of the monthly-based graphs created, took values in the range of 0.75 to 0.94 and were in acceptable agreement with the ground data.
