Abstract (EN)
The livestock import, which becomes a focus point of the discussions in recent years, generates question marks on Turkish animal husbandry. Although it has often been discussed, the seriousness of the problem is only related with the applied politics and the question that lies behind the internal and external factors such as ?Liquidation of Peasantry?, ?Privatization of State Owned Enterprises?, ?The Effect of European Union Membership Process on the Liquidation of Peasantry?, ?Applications of Direct Income Support? are neglected. Thus, today most of the discussions on animal husbandry-red meat are far from the origins of the question. Thereby animal husbandry that is already de facto halting is further neutralized. The main aim of this study is to discuss internal and external factors, in the context of food sovereignty on Turkish animal husbandry and the outcomes that take place with applied politics from 1980?s to present-day. Furthermore, it is being discussed on which extent the development of food sovereignty, food right, food security and food safety is and also the dimensions of these Development in accordance with Turkey is emphasized. The result of the study exposes that Turkish animal existence is permanently decreasing and this decrease is still effectual on animal existence today. All these outcomes are a product of liberalization of Turkish agriculture and adjustment programmes according to liberal projects. All the governments that came to power after 24th January resolutions have failed to prevent the decrease of animal populations. Therefore, food sovereignty in Turkey especially one on the ground of red meat is seriously under threat. However, against the imposition of capitalist industrial agricultural model, for a sustainable development in agriculture and animal husbandry through all economic actions, an agricultural politics which takes into consideration the environment and health must be accepted. Otherwise the dependency of industrial agriculture to inorganic inputs would continue to threat historical-traditional techniques of family farming and modes of production of ecological agriculture.Key Words: Red Meat, Animal Husbandry, Food Sovereignty, Liquidation of Peasantry, Privatization of State Owned Enterprises.
