An analysis by sector for female employment in the manufacturing industry in Turkey Manisa example

A country's development indicator is associated with high female labor force participation rates. However, there are many obstacles to women's labor force participation, such as low wage, gender discrimination, responsibility for childcare, and insufficient education. İn this context, in order to ensure economic development, women's participation in the labor force and the development and implementation of policies in this direction are extremely important. In the first part of this study, the definitions of unemployment, labor force, employment, women's employment are discussed with their conceptual dimension. Barriers to women's entry to the labor market have been tried to be identified by analyzing both literature and statistical data. In the second chapter in Turkey and in the world, examined women's employment in the historical process, is given to the legal aspects and effects as well as the exchange of statistical data on the employment of women and conversions. In the third part, a quantitative study on the working conditions of women workers working in the manufacturing industry in Manisa, which is the center of the study, and the application of a questionnaire to 250 female employees and evaluation of the obtained data are given. According to the results of the study, women think that they receive low wages because of working in temporary and unskilled jobs in manufacturing industry. In addition, they prefer this sector less because the problems in the working environment affect their family lives.
