Turkey-Iraq relations (1955-1993)

The 20th century has been a period in high very important events took place in the World. Various studies have been carried out in many areas in order to determine the foreign policy and make a real anaylsis for he 20th century time period. In order to make a real anaylsis of Turkey- Iraq Relations between the years 1955-1993, various sources were used, archives and newspapers were examined and articles and boks written on this subject were consulted. In this study, the foundations of the Iran-Iraq War, the attitudes of other states, the crises experienced in the history of the Middle East, and Turkey's relations with Iraq in particular, have been tried to shed light by considering the General Ottoman history at the times of the coup. This work is divided into three parts. The first part was examined within the framework of the Democratic Party's Middle East policies, within the scope of Iraq and NATO; The second part was examined by emphasizing an eight-year period such as the Baghdad Pact and the Iran-Iraq War, and the Middle East problem was discussed in this part because it created the solution phase, and in the third part was examined within the framework of the coup of September 12, 1980, which took place in the time period of Iraqi relations. In the last part, Turgut Özal period and Turkey's Iraq policy are discussed. The aim of the thesis is to examine the Turkey and Iraq frames between 1955 and 1993. While describing all these events, the coups, crises and agreements were mentioned. The conclusions drawn are, in general terms, the trace left by the concept of terrorism in Turkey and the realization of terrorism with the aid received from foreign powers and the foundation of interstate relations established in line with interests. What is meant by these external powers is the history framed by the leadership of powerful states such as the USA and the USSR, which were born after the Second World War.
