Political relations of Turkey-Iran (1919-1938)

Turkey and Iran, which are the two strong power of the Near East, has political and cultural relations for almost 1000 years. In this 1000 years period, both of the countries had administrative changes and these changes effected the relations between the two countries. The taut relations between Ottoman State and Safavids replaced with friendly relations after the new administrations of both countries. At the improvement and development of the relations Mustafa Kemal Ataturk who is the founder of the Republic of Turkey and Riza Shah Pahlavi who gave an end to Kachar Dynasty and came to the administration in Iran played great role. Turkey and Iran which have common interests and enemies showed their good purposes and gave an end to the rivalry of 500 years. In the period we study on, Turkey and Iran resisted to the Kurdish rebellions at the borders and to the spreading policy of the UK in the region together and with the political, economic and social relations they founded today?s Turkey- Iran friendship. As the mutual relations of Turkey and Iran which we study on, they also moved together in the regional relations and one can see the leadership of these two country in the foundation of Sadabad and Bagdat Pacts.
