But there is a lack of academic studiesabout the maritime area lying in between Turkey and Cyprus Island, especiallywhen compared with the studies subjected on Aegean Sea.The aim of this thesis is determine possible future scenarios whichTurkey may face in Mediterranean area on this subject. Then, according todetermined scenarios; alternative strategies are deducted and suggested. Allthis process is ran through three rounds Delphi Technique which comprised25 experts on this issue. After completion of three Delphi rounds; 5 differentpossible future scenarios and 4 alternative strategies are distinguished.The founding of this thesis confirmed that Turkey is subject to facesome problematic occurrences in the near future originated from thementioned maritime area. The most problematic topic is expected to be thespecification of the maritime borders between Turkey and Cyprus Island.Turkey needs to demonstrate quick response on this subject. What expertsmutually suggest is that Turkey should immediately sign necessaryagreements with Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic in order to define the wayhow the maritime area between these countries will be governed. This actionmay enable Turkey get its benefits to be included in future solution plans likelatter Annan Plan.viiiWith a holistic approach; this thesis points the importance andnecessities of proactive actions about the governance of the maritime areabetween Turkey and Cyprus Island and suggests some specific actions.ix
