Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out in order to compare the communication skills, self-esteem and optimism levels of the students who continue their undergraduate education in the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at the Kirsehir Ahi Evran University in Turkey and the Kyrgyzstan - Turkey 'Manas' University in Kyrgyzstan and the Psychology Department of the Kyrgyz Osh State University in terms of different variables. It is a quantitative research. The research group consists of 370 students, 233 of whom are women and 137 are men. As data collection tools in the research, the personal information form prepared by the researcher to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants, the Communication Skills Inventory (ICI) developed by Ersanlı and Balcı (1998) to determine the communication skills of the participants, and Arıcak (1999) to determine their self-esteem. The Self-Esteem Scale developed by Balcı and Yılmaz (2002), and the Optimism Level Scale developed by Balcı and Yılmaz (2002) to determine the optimism levels of the students were used. Independent sample T-Test was used to examine the differentiation status of students' communication skills, self-esteem and optimism levels between gender variable, and students' communication skills, self-esteem and optimism levels were determined by age, university, class, number of siblings, family economic status, father's education level and mother's education level. One-way ANOVA test was used to examine the differentiation between the variables of self-esteem, Pearson Correlation test to examine the relationship between self-esteem and optimism levels and communication skills, and Multiple Regression test for the effect of self-esteem and optimism level variables on communication skills. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 23 package program. In the findings of this study, it was seen that the communication skills and optimism levels of the students differed according to the gender variable, the communication skills and self-esteem differed according to the university they attended, and the self-esteem of the students according to the family economic status. On the other hand; It was seen that there was a moderate positive relationship between communication skills and self-esteem, and between self-esteem and optimism levels, and as a result of Multiple Regression analysis, there was a moderate and significant relationship between the variables of self-esteem and optimism levels and communication skills. However, communication skills, self-esteem and optimism levels; There is no significant difference in terms of age, class, parental education status.
