Assessment on the competitiveness of logistic industry in Turkey

In today's globalizing business environment, companies are in strong competition not only with local companies but also with global competitors. After the quality of their products or services, the most important means that will give companies an edge over their competitors are their logistics preferences. While companies respond to the needs of their customers, at the same time, it should make its logistics processes effective and efficient in order to gain an edge over their competitors. The logistics sector is a natural need of companies in a market area where production and trade are internationalized, country borders are eliminated in the commercial area and operating in the production of both products and services. The logistics sector supports every sector and will not lose its currency. For this reasons, it is a field worth examining. The purpose of the study; by examining the competitiveness of the international logistics sector in Turkey, it is to seek solutions that will increase the competitiveness of the sector. For this purpose, the place of the Turkish logistics sector has been researched on the basis of the Logistics Performance Index and the Global Competitiveness Index. The Global Competitiveness Index "Transport Infrastructure" sub-component was included in the study and comparisons were made and the international position of the sector was examined. As a result of the research, it has been seen that the area with the highest international competitive power in the Turkish logistics sector is air transportation. At the same time, it was concluded that the Turkish logistics industry is not in a position to shape the world competitive environment.
