Modernization efforts in the architecture of Turkey: Approaches in facade design and examination in the case of Bagdat avenue

The aim of this study, facades, architectural approach is to address the issue in the context of the modernization efforts in Turkey architecture. In this direction, the houses built on the Bağdat Avenue between 1950-1975 were chosen as the research area because of the appropriate facade models. In the research, firstly, after the conceptual background explanations such as housing and housing architecture, the relation of the façade with structure, material, geometry and context is examined. In the field study, 17 residential facades on Bağdat Avenue were examined within the framework of the relationship between structure, material, geometry and context. Observation and sample analysis were used as the method and the collected data were analyzed through facade analysis and interpretations. Of structures in Bağdat Avenue in Turkey architecture modernization efforts and trends to be under the influence, lean facades of buildings, rectangular geometries and forms, free plans and facades, has been observed to be designed with elements such as reinforced concrete skeleton. In this context, on structures that symbolize a significant period of architecture in Turkey is expected to provide a contribution to the literature of this study.
