Analysis of disadvantaged sectors in export of Turkey

Özet (EN)

Starting from the foundation, The Republic of Turkey adopted the idea of industralization for development, building a strong economy and able to be competitive in international trade therefore many steps taken in this direction. For this goal many different export policies had been tried and discarded. According to conditions of the period different policies such as; half-liberal, statist, liberal, import substition had been adopted. In 1980 with the approval of January 24 Economic Stability Program a new period had been started in economy by speeding up transition to free market economy and making the trade liberal as never before. From that date forward Turkey's trade volume rapidly rised. Despite the steps had taken no solution has been brought to foreign trade deficit. In this study Turkey's top ten highest export valued sectors has been analysed and possible solutions introduced to solve this disadvantaged conditions. In this context there are three issues to solve; energy, raw material and technological development or in other words; capability to produce high value products.
