Özet (EN)

While aerial photography and remote sensing technologies constitute an important portion of means to collect data for the earth itself, Geographical Information System provides the storage of the collected data in computer media, manipulation, query and analysis of the data, and in the end presentation of the processed data. The information relevant to the earth and related sampling points can be obtained from Geographical Information System, while transforming the spectral data collected via remote sensing into thematic data. This is why remote sensing needs Geographical Information System for data processing whereas Geographical Information System needs remote sensing for updating the data. There is clearly a requirement for the integration of these two technologies. In this study, results are obtained principally through the integration of Geographical Information System and remote sensing. Both the aerial photographs of the last 40-50 years for Turkish shores, satellite images and graphical and digital data are utilised in this study for the first time in Turkey in order to determine the status of the shores right after the sedimentation, evaluate the change in the shore line, delta evolution (paleogeography) determine the progradation (lift of the land towards the sea) and retrogradation (lift of the sea towards the land) percentages and seize of the areas (annual mean, summation between years, summation in the whole delta). Key Words : Progradation,Retrogradation,Paleogeographic Evolution. II
