Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, international trade is covering more important place. Countries and firms are engaging in international trade more in order to get higher benefit and make more profit. In this concept, the aim of this paper is to study the relationship between export and distance. In this paper, distance of importing countries to Turkey, 193 importing countries' GDPs, populations, also USD / TL exchange rate, presence of Custom Unions (dummy variable) and export of Turkey's textile products in three aggregate products, textile fibre (SITC 26), yarn and fabric (SITC 65) and articles of clothing & apparel accessories (SITC 84) to these countries are taken into account between 2007 and 2017 for this objective.Data are obtained from TURKSTAT web page. The Gravity Model is employed to investigate impact of distance to bilateral trade. The results lend support to the idea that distance has a decreasing effect on textile trade of Turkey. As the distance increases, countries are less willing to have a trade. In addition to this, as the wealth, population, depreciating Turkish Lira, common Custom Union membership have accelerating effect on textile export of Turkey.
