Abstract (EN)
In this study, primary school 1st grade mathematics textbooks were examined according to the opinions of classroom teachers working in Turkey and Russia. The case study was chosen as the research model in the design of the study. In order to examine the mathematics textbooks taught in Turkey and Russia and to determine the current situation, the interview, which is one of the sources of qualitative data collection, was applied. For this purpose, primary school first grade textbooks used in the teaching of mathematics in two countries were reviewed in terms of various elements and the findings were revealed. As a result, although the primary school teachers in Turkey stated that the content of the mathematics textbooks showed a positive development compared to the previous years, they still stated that they needed revision and improvement. They also suggested that the activities, examples, questions, content and page designs should be arranged in accordance with the students' levels and cultures. Teachers in Russia, on the other hand, believe that it is important to add interesting and attention-grabbing parts to the textbook, such as more technology-based applications, games, puzzles, and more understandable texts, to attract students' attention. As a result of the study, the education systems of the two countries were taken into consideration in line with the opinions of the teachers and the primary school 1st grade mathematics textbooks were analyzed comparatively, and then a discussion was made based on the findings of the research, and eventually suggestions were made for book developers and researchers.
