Concentrating on the civil Jumu'ah prayers in east and South Anatolia this work aims to make a sociological analysis of civil disobediences in Turkey. The central question of the work is whether the civil Jumu'ah movement can be accepted as a civil disobedience movement. In this context, first the terms and theories of civil disobedience will be analyzed. Thereafter the following questions will be answered: What are the reasons for the civil Jumu'ah prayers? Which complaints are the main factors for the civil Jumuahs? What are the objectives of civil Jumuahs? After the literature review, with some interviews with the organizers and participants of civil Jumu'ah prayers the work aims to investigate the main reasons and motivations of the civil Jumuahs. The goal in this part is to find out the complaints that the participants have and the demands they want to achieve. Based on the theoretical analysis and the analysis of the interviews the goal in the last part is to draw a conclusion about the basic questions of the work. Whether the civil Jumuahs can be accepted as a civil disobedience movement, the motivations and reasons of the civil Jumuahs and to what extend the civil Jumuahs have a historical background, what is the relation between Islam and the civil disobedience are the points, which will be investigated in this final part of the work.
