Interactions between sports and politics in turkey

In this study, by the relation between sport and politics and its perception in Turkey, sport is tried to having meaning and explained by the social tissue out of the game and physical activity from the perspective of the reference groups like politicians who are responsible for sport (senators, ministers), people who are responsible for sport administration (president of federations, directors of GSGM), athletes (olympians) and also academians in sport academies.By this perspective in this study mixed method which contains quantitative and qualitative methodology had choosen and the data had analyzed. In quantitative part, the scale which had developed by the reseacher named as ?Interaction of Sport and Policy Perception Scale? had applied to 83 senators and 86 academicans. As quantitative part, existing 15 questions half structured interview form, had applied to 6 people who are Former Minister Resposible for Sport, Fomer Director of Youth and Sport, Two Presidents of Federations and 2 Medalist Former Athletes.While the analyzing the data in quantitative part; frequency, percentages, t-test for independent groups and one way ANOVA had used. In qualitative part the data had analyzed by Descriptive Analyze Method.According to the data, Sport and Policy Perception Scale?s mean of sub factors of statistical findings, the senators and academicians are in the first place in the sub factor mean scores of ?Sport-Politic System Relation? and ?Sport-State/Goverment Relation? and ?Sport Politics Relation? factors orderly. On the other hand, it could be said thaat in each two subjects groups, sport and politics interaction became more important in ?Sport-Politic System Relation?. Also ?sport services are goverments responsibilty? expression had accepted by 86.1% and 90.7% had accepted the importance of ?political effects in sport investments?. In the study 60.5% of the academicans and 67.5% of senators had believed the autonomy in sport federations and 68.6% of academicans and 79.5% of senators had believed that ?sport administration of upper structre model will be decreased the effect of politics on sport administration?. According to the qualitative results; subjects pointed out the political support needed for improvement in the sports, especially the financial supports. By this manner, they pointing out that there?s an politic effect in the sport administartors? assigning but the suitability should be the effective fact. Sport has an important element in the advertising of the country and also a symbol for the power sign.The data shows that sport administration in Turkey has effected by politic, social and economic changes. Sport is an important tool for creating national identity, improving the feelings of national unity and cooperation and sport shouldn?t be effected by politics.Key Words: Politics, Sport, Goverment, Ideology.
