Abstract (EN)

The main objective of this study is to conduct a multidimensional analysis of the current state of sports tourism in Turkey and to develop a managerial model proposal that can be implemented on a national scale, based on the views and suggestions of relevant stakeholders. The study examines the current structure of sports tourism in the context of encountered problems, areas for development, and sectoral dynamics. In this scope, the study aims to identify sectoral issues, develop solution-oriented suggestions, enhance the traceability of sports tourism data, and determine strategic approaches that can adapt to changing conditions - guided by qualitative data collected from stakeholders directly or indirectly involved in sports tourism. The research was conducted using the Grounded Theory approach, one of the qualitative research methods. Based on a systematic design, the relevant literature was reviewed, and in-depth interviews were carried out with sports tourism stakeholders using the "Sports Tourism Interview Form" developed by the researcher in line with the existing body of knowledge. Field notes and memos were employed as data collection tools. During the analysis of the data obtained from participants, content analysis and the constant comparative method were applied. The collected data were analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding techniques, and the qualitative data analysis software Maxqda24 was utilized throughout the process. The raw data were systematically analyzed and first transformed into codes; these codes were then grouped into categories based on their similarities and relationships. Subsequently, a theoretical structure that explains the core phenomenon was developed from these categories. An inductive approach was adopted throughout the entire research process. Although tourism and sports operate under different institutional frameworks, the integration and collaboration of these two sectors are of critical importance for the development of sports tourism. This research aims to propose managerial models to strengthen this collaboration and to provide a structural foundation for a more sustainable development of sports tourism. It is anticipated that cooperation among public institutions, local governments, private sector representatives, and academic circles will contribute significantly to the managerial structuring of sports tourism.
