Century, it is very clear to understand thinkingscientific and move in a scientific way for human rights and liberty. Furthermore, one moreimportant feature of this period for our country is the continueing process to access theEuropean Union.In Turkey, there are four assosications examining the evidences collected from crimescenes with scientific technics and methods are: Turkish Council of Forensic Medicine, relatedmain science branches of universities, Criminal Police Laboratories and Criminal Laboratoriesof Gendarme. These assosications which perceive the principle of reaching the suspect fromevidences are a must for a law-state.It is known that in the crime scene investigation, the footwear evidences are generallyneglected by the crime scene investigators because of the inadequacy of number of the expertsof footwear evidence or insufficiency of the technical materials.In this study, how to make and which methods are being used by the internationalassosications which are interested in three dimensional footwear evidences collected from thecrime scenes and examined in the laboratory, and the methods are put into practice in ourworking area were searched.Also in this thesis, 44 footwear evidences that were brought to Adana Criminal PoliceLaboratory Mark Examination Branch from various provinces between 2001-2005 wereanalyzed. 23% of the 44 footwear evidences that have been studied were matched with suspects?footwears, while 11% of the 44 footwear evidences were identified as negative match. 58% ofthe evidences had the same classical characteristics but not enough individual characteristicswith the suspects? footwears, and 8% of the evidences had neither classical nor individualcharacteristics. We have also studied the associations who requested such investigations are asfollows; Police departments lead with 79%, secondly the Gendarme departments with 14% andChief Prosecutor?s Offices follow by 7%. The percentage of the cities that requested thefootwear evidence investigations are, Adana by 51% , Gaziantep is second by 18% and Mersinis the third by 14%.The techniques and methods that criminals use change and improve parallel to theadvances in science and technology. Consequently, the new trends about this branch must befollowed closely by the Footwear Examination experts and improve themselves continually.Key Words: Crime Scene, Evidence, Three Dimensional Footwear Evidence, Photography,Casting.
