Abstract (EN)

Precious stones and metals have had an important place in human life for centuries, as they are reflections of magnificence, ostentation and ornament, as well as having healing effects. These stones and metals, which are frequently used in social, cultural and economic life, are frequently mentioned in literary works, especially as a means of depicting the beauty of the lover. They were mentioned by many poets in classical Turkish literature, and they created a rich content in the literary world by using various similes, metaphors or directly expressing them. The subject of this study is the precious stones and metals mentioned in the divans of Haşmet, Koca Râgıb and Fıtnat Hanım, who were representatives of the 18th century and had a close friendship. The study consists of three parts. The introduction section focuses on the political, economic, social and cultural situation of the Ottoman Empire in the 18th century; Information about classical Turkish literature in this century is given. In the first part, the lives, literary personalities and works of Koca Râgıb Pasha, Haşmet and Fıtnat Hanım are included. In the second part, the precious stones in the divans of the mentioned literary figures are included, and in the third part, the minerals in the divans of the poets in question are included. In these sections, detailed information about precious stones and metals is given and their usage in Classical Turkish poetry is emphasized. It is explained with examples with selected couplets. In the thesis, the frequency of use of precious stones in the mentioned divans is tabulated and given.
