Abstract (EN)

Studies about development and improvement of transportation systems are great importance for both local authorities and central government in conjunction with growth of population in Metropolitan Areas. As a result, transport modelling studies are performed. Mode choice step in transportation modelling has an important position. Both individual and public transport opportunities as set out at this step, how to perform transportation services and what are the expectations of decision makers and individual living in the city from transportation services are taken into account. Travels and characteristics of travelers are considered as factors affecting the mode choice in transportation. Importance and integration of public transportation in urban transportation, current and past transportation plans and their achievements, and determining of parameters that will be needed in urban transport services are the subjects that are insisted on this study. The parameters which influence on the mode choice were put forward with daily trip information of population. Trips were simulated with daily trip behaviors in determinated regions. By this way, optimal results for urban transportation structure can be achieved. In order to improve the efficiency of transportation services, a model was adopted for determining the mode choice in urban transport. The factors affecting the mode choice were discovered with decision trees which is the one of the methods of data mining by following knowledge process model. The change of transportation mode according to time was determined with multi-agent traffic simulation. This simulation has been a spatial representation with geographical information systems. In addition, there was an information about selected mode choice model. Effects of individual behavior and movements on mode choice has been demonstrated to be useful for decision makers with the help of multiagent simulation.
